” Celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with our family. We all enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub. There was a lovely welcome pack left for us. The house was lovely and just across the road from harbour and next to village, which we were lucky to be there for the farmers market on the Sunday. Alan was very helpful and was there every day checking the ph levels in hot tub. We would be happy to return for another stay. ” Ann
” We were a group of 7 friends looking for somewhere to relax and de-stress, and we got exactly that. We had a wonderful weekend of comfort and enjoyed walking around the local area and the local shops. The locals were very friendly, and our host Alan was wonderful. He was very welcoming, happy to help during our stay, and we took on board his recommendations for local establishments, and he was right they were great. Would recommend this wonderful home and thoughtful host to anyone. ” Sandra
” A cosy and welcoming cottage, located in a very quiet area in Kirkcudbright. The rooms were all nicely decorated and plenty space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen had all the utilities we required. Beds were extremely comfortable and the area is so quiet, so makes for a perfect night’s sleep. We used the hot tub in winter and it held the heat extremely well. ” Alison
” A lovely place to stay. It was clean, warm and comfortable. The beds were very comfy with lovely bedding. Alan was very friendly and helpful. We were there for 3 nights from 10th January, a few businesses were still closed for winter but there was enough open for our short stay. The welcome pack was a really nice touch. I can imagine that the outside space will be fantastic in the warmer weather. We used the hot tub which was great. ” Fiona
” Highly recommended. Lovely, comfortable house, right next to the castle and just a stroll to all the treats, gardens, museums and galleries of Kirkcudbright. There are bags of restaurants and eateries close at hand if you don’t want to use the well-equipped kitchen or just can’t resist al fresco dining at the Skippers Scran Van. Kirkcudbright is great – and this house is the perfect partner. ” Tim
” Beautiful house – very well appointed which meant we could eat, sleep and relax in comfort. Immaculately clean, perfect location and the sun trap outdoor eating area was wonderful. Of course to top all of this off, the hot tub was the icing on the cake! Alan, the very friendly owner, met us on arrival, showed us around the house and was very helpful during our stay. It was a 60th birthday getaway for the whole family and it was perfect, as was the Dumfries & Galloway area. ” Caroline
” Brilliant house, lovely owner showed us around and gave us lots of info regarding area. House is immaculate, very well kitted out for example – plastic for hot tub and glassware for house ranging from lovely wine glasses to gin glasses. Lovely welcome basket full of goodies on arrival. Garden area superb and lovely big hot tub (with hooks around it for towels etc). Hot tub very clean, and Alan (owner) came daily to check ph levels. Garden area has lovely lights for darker nights at table and hot tub. Bed comfortable and rooms cosy. Dining room brilliant and roomy. The house has a quirkiness about it, the decor is fab. Dishwasher was a life saviour for us also and tablets were provided :). I went as group of 8 women who do a yearly trip and this house by far was not only the cleanest, but it had everything you needed utensil wise, which believe me makes a difference. WIFI great throughout house and garden with 8 people using it. Brill house, great area, kind owner and fantastic stay. ” Blair
” Absolutely loved our stay at Auchengool House! The location was perfect, just a short walk to a host of local shops and amenities. The house was spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was incredibly welcoming and provided great recommendations for local dining and activities. We especially enjoyed the spacious outdoor area and hot tub. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway! Will definitely be back! ” Laura
” We stayed for 3 nights with friends (3 couples) and absolutely loved the house and location. The hot tub was just gorgeous and we enjoyed being in there even in the rain! The house is beautiful with everything you would need for self-catering – immaculately clean and Alan was a great host. We would definitely book again. Highly recommended. ” Katie
” Brilliant accommodation in a wonderful setting. Loved Kirkcudbright and would love to return. Wonderful host who I’m sure would have been a great help if we had needed him. ” Irene
” Auchengool House was a fantastic base for our long weekend in Kirkcudbright. It is a stylish and comfortable home. Very well equipped and the welcome basket of locally sourced edible goodies from the owner was much appreciated. The hot tub was a fun addition to the beautiful garden which has the backdrop of the castle. There was plenty to do in the area – walks, National Trust properties (Threave Estate and Broughton House ), Dark Art gin tour, shops, restaurants and the monthly farmer’s market. We would highly recommend Auchengool House. ” Caroline
” Auchengool House was the perfect place for our family birthday get together. Four generations all enjoyed a very comfortable stay in Alan’s beautiful home. Excellent, well appointed accommodation and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. Alan was a very welcoming, attentive host and the goodies left in the kitchen for us were much appreciated. Perfect location in the heart of Kirkcudbright but remember to book if you want to eat out as availability can be limited. We would have no hesitation in recommending Auchengool House – can’t wait to return. ” Carol
” This is beautiful accommodation. The house has been nicely renovated and has a lovely finish. The interiors have a great personality. The hot tub addition was a whole-family-crowd-pleaser. Especially so as it has the view of a castle next door. The bath tub is possibly the best one I’ve ever had the fortune to have a soak in. It’s in a good spot in the town with easy parking and access to shops and pubs so there’s enough going on locally to keep you occupied. It’s also a great base for trips around the coast and into the Galloway Forest. It’s our first time exploring this part of Scotland and we’re looking forward to visiting again – hopefully we can stay in Auchengool House. ” Danielle
” Auchengool House had everything we needed for a wonderful week, and the hot tub was a particular perk! Everything was spotlessly clean, and Alan couldn’t have been a more welcoming host. Fantastic property in a lovely location, with everything in Kirkcudbright on the doorstep and beautiful scenery and beaches nearby. Perfect! ” Judith
” We selected this cottage to celebrate our mum’s 80th birthday and to have such a beautiful cottage, in such a perfect location with so many lovely places to see and visit within walking distance or an easy drive was an absolute treat. Alan was the perfect host and could not have been kinder or more helpful. We would love to return. ” Fiona
” The house was beautiful, decor and furnishings were first class. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and fabulous hot tub. The family had a great time! The host Alan was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. A great stay. ” Jane
” Auchengool house is centrally located near to the Harbour & all local amenities. Beds were very comfortable, the property was superbly equipped and Alan left us a luxury welcome pack. The outside seating area & Hot Tub lend the property to outside living, we highly recommend a stay at Auchengool House & Kirkcudbright. Superb 4 days, 5 stars plus! ” Roger
” Wow, what can say about Auchengool House, apart from absolutely wonderful, from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed by the Owner, who welcomed us with a large hamper basket with lots of food from cheese to tea to start off with, he then showed us how everything worked in the house, including the Hot Tub in the garden. The house is situated directly at Kirkcudbright Castle and Harbour, and was a real Gem. Kirkcudbright is an artist Town, and everything in the house was like the town itself – clean and full of lovely little touches to make you feel at home. The red Bath tub was one of these touches of art meeting home. We stayed for 7 days, 7 adults, 3 kids and we were sad to leave, but we will for sure, be booking this again the next time we are back in Kirkcudbright… We love it, we love this house and we will be back. Thanks Alan for making us feel at home in your lovely house! ” David
” We have never visited Kirkcudbright before and we were delighted by the town. Ample parking and shops around Auchengool. The House is laid over 3 floors. The top floor has two twin rooms but no bathroom. The first floor had two bedrooms (one ensuite), a family bathroom as well as a shower room. The ground floor has a well stocked kitchen, the dining room is beautifully decorated and table big enough for 10. The sitting room has two sofas and two easy chairs. We loved the property and the hot tub a bonus! There are no toilets on the ground floor. Highly recommend, beautiful house and town. Many thanks to Alan and for your generosity. ” Jema
” Excellent location – easy to walk to National Trust property at Broughton House and local bakeries and Co-Op. Lovely welcome and a welcome basket with goodies on arrival. The decor in the property was stylish and tasteful throughout. Underfloor heating and hot tub added to the luxury stay. ” Anne
” Fantastic house and great host. House was perfect and in a great location in the centre of Kirkcudbright. The house was fully equipped and had great outdoor space to relax and dine. Would highly recommend and hope to be back again soon. ” Fergus
” Beautiful house: comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Really comfortable beds and great showers. As it was sunny and warm, we made full use of the outdoor dining table and hot tub. There was a lovely welcome basket. The house is well situated to explore the town and surrounding areas – lovely woodland walks. Threave gardens well worth a visit. We would love to return to Auchengool House: a great space for large, extended family groups with charming hosts. Excellent!. ” Sheila
” Lovely cottage, central to the centre of Kirkcudbright. Within easy walking distance of restaurants. Lovely outdoor area, terrace with large outdoor table and chairs, another terrace for the hot tub. In full sun. Responsive host. Interior design excellent. ” Amanda

” We had a wonderful stay and we would definitely stay again. The owners were wonderful and made us feel welcome and have made the place wonderful! We absolutely loved our stay! I have added the property on Google and written a review: We were fortunate enough to be the first to stay here and we have loved it! The house is beautiful and the outside space with the hot tub is fantastic. The hosts made us feel welcome and did everything to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. The village has everything you need with shops, pubs, takeaways and even a swimming pool. There are lots of places to visit around the area. We enjoyed the local beaches, parks and attractions or you can relax at home in the hot tub. ” Laurence

The property is a great layout and rooms are spacious. The kitchen and fittings were high quality and the outside area spacious. The hot tub was clean and a real bonus to the property. Owner is friendly and easily contactable for any questions without being intrusive. Nice restaurants nearby, there’s a Coop literally 2 mins walk away… ” Flora
